Fri., Mar. 6, 11 AM: Garden Club Luncheon "Bees." Michael Eckenfels, a Texas Master Naturalist whose interest is native bees, will speak on bees and address the subject of Colony Collapse Disorder afecting honeybees. Michael is a volunteer in the Texas Master Naturalist program and is active in the local chapters of the Native Plant Society of Texas and the North American Butterfly Association. He leads field walks and presentations on bees in the region. Lunch is $5, payable at the door.
Fri., Apr. 10, 9:30 AM: Garden Club Trip to Mecer Botanical Gardens and the White Flamingo Restaurant. Those wishing to participate in this event may sign up beginning Friday, March 6, at 9 AM; last day for sign up is Tuesday, April 7. When signing up, please advise the Clubhouse if you need a ride or if you can drive others. Be at the Clubhouse by 9:30 on April 10 to coordinate rides as we will carpool, leaving the Clubhouse by 9:45 AM. The botanical talk begins at 10:30 AM. Cost is $15 which includes lunch and gratuity at the White Flamingo Restaurant.
